Standoff Suspect Free on Bond

An Iron Mountain man is free on bond tonight after a standoff with police.

64-year-old Michael Vanderlin was arrested early Wednesday morning after a standoff that started a little after 9 pm Central time Tuesday night.

He’s charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm while under the influence.

The Iron Mountain Police say it happened at the Park Ridge mobile home trailer park when a man called saying Vanderlin had pointed a rifle at him.

When police got there, Vanderlin was unarmed and standing outside his mobile home, but he went back inside.

The Dickinson County Critical Incident Response Team was called to the scene.

Nearby residents were evacuated from the area.

Just before 7 am Wednesday morning, Vandelin was taken into custody.

He has a preliminary trial may 14th.
