WELLS TOWNSHIP — Police blame speed for a single-vehicle crash in Wells Township Saturday evening.
Marquette County Sheriff’s Deputies say the incident happened just after 6:00 p.m. on County Road 426 near County Road 557. A Chevrolet Equinox was traveling east on 426 when it lost control, crossed the centerline, and overturned in a ditch on the north side of the roadway.
The two occupants, both 22-year-old Marquette men, were able to exit the car on their own. The driver was treated at UP Health System – Marquette for non-life threatening injuries. The passenger was not injured. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Police say the road was snow-covered and icy at the time of the incident. The driver was found at fault for driving too fast for conditions.
The Wells Township Fire Department, Forsyth Township EMS, and UP Health System – Marquette EMS assisted at the scene.
