Southern U.P. H1N1 Clinics Fill Up Fast

With the H1N1 virus hitting the entire U.P., the Public Health Department of Delta and Menominee Counties is seeing their flu clinics fill up quickly.

Lately, those clinics have become full just a few hours after they were announced.

They’re now providing the swine flu vaccine to a broader population.

That includes pregnant women, folks who live with an infant under 6 months old, health care workers, anyone 6 months to 24 years of age, and those 25 to 64 years old who have a medical condition like asthma.

Jennie Miller of the Health Department says they want to hold more clinics once they can get their hands on more doses of the vaccine.

With some people concerned about getting the vaccine, the Health Department says it’s safe and prepared in exactly the same way that every year’s seasonal vaccine is.

Some of the clinics slated for this week are already full.

Miller says if you want to know when other upcoming clinics for Delta and Menominee Counties will be, you can visit the Health Department’s website at www.PHDM.org .
