Some road projects to stop for holiday weekend
LANSING — The Labor Day holiday is fast approaching, and the Michigan Department of Transportation is hoping to help ease the travel plans of Michiganders.
MDOT will be suspending as much road work as possible throughout the state starting at 3:00 p.m. Friday and running through 6:00 a.m. Tuesday. Traffic restrictions are being removed on a majority of active projects in order to help accommodate the estimated one point two million motorists that will be using the roads over the holiday.
In the Upper Peninsula, projects on US–2, M–35, M–38, and US–45 will be among those suspended. MDOT is reminding motorists that while construction zones may be closed, they should be aware that some equipment and temporary traffic shifts may remain in place.
