Snyder Facing Recall Effort
Governor Rick Snyder is the target of a recall effort.
The group behind the effort is calling itself Michigan Citizens United.
It filed a recall petition Monday morning in Washtenaw County, where Snyder lives.
The state Republican Party chair says he believes the Michigan Education Association is involved.
He says records on file with the Secretary of State’s office show Michigan Citizens United has the same fax number as the MEA coordinating council that covers the Ann Arbor area.
Several people are also members of both groups.
The MEA, according to other documents on file, has made other large contributions to the state Democratic Party.
If the petition passes muster at a clarity hearing next week, it’ll go out for signatures.
More than 800,000 would be needed to put the recall on the ballot in November.
