Snowmobiler injured in Schoolcraft Co.

Blowing snow and white out conditions are being blamed for a snowmobile accident in Schoolcraft County.  The incident sent one man to the hospital with a broken leg.

According to the Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday near the eight-mile cut across and trail 413.  Police say a 48-year-old man from Clayton, Michigan was riding his snowmobile when he was thrown from the machine into a tree, breaking his leg.

Using their snowmobile and rescue sled, authorities transported the driver to an ambulance.  The man was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and later transported to Marquette General Hospital for treatment.

The Manistique Public Safety Department assisted at the scene.
