Snow Totals from Weekend Storm

It’s been a nasty weekend to drive around in much of the U.P. so far.

But after heavy snow on Wednesday, are the same areas getting the brunt of this snow the same ones that were hit hardest during the week?

They’re not.

The southern counties in the U.P. saw the worst of the midweek storm, especially the ones bordering Wisconsin.

However, the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department said that as of early this evening, they’d received less than an inch of fresh snow today at their offices in Bessemer.

The Keweenaw hadn’t been hit that hard today, either.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department reported an inch or two of fresh powder, and their counterparts in Keweenaw County told us they had five or six inches in Eagle River.

Their counterparts in Baraga County had just measured outside when we spoke with them, and they’d had seven inches of new white stuff.

Meanwhile, personnel at the Negaunee and Sault Ste. Marie State Police Posts said they’d each had at least a foot.

The heaviest spot may have been St. Ignace.

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department told us they’d received 12 to 14 inches.
