MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A 71-year-old man was hit by a slow moving car on US-41 by Wal-Mart at noon Tuesday.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says Richard Rolain, 76, of Ishpeming, was stopped at a red light at the intersection of US-41 and County Road 492. The light turned green and as he accelerated his front bumper hit Carl Ritari, of Marquette, who was crossing the highway toward Wal-Mart.

Ritari suffered only minor injuries and was taken to U.P. Health System – Marquette for treatment.

Westbound travel on US-41 was limited to one lane of traffic for roughly 20 minutes.
