Skate Park Has To Find New Home

The people trying to get a replacement built for the Marquette YMCA skateboard park have a lot more work to do.

The City Commission has thrown out the proposed location for the new park.

The commissioners have reversed their previous decision to have the skate plaza set up in a rarely-used corner of Harlow Park.

The city Planning Commission has 2 months to come up with ideas for new locations.

The City Commission would then have to approve one of them.

5 months ago, the Planning Commission recommended putting the park near Lakeview Arena.

However, in late August, the City Commission approved a corner of Harlow Park instead.

The Marquette American Legion Post maintains the park, and they spoke out often against that decision.
