A South Range man is in jail tonight, charged with attempted murder.

Police say 37–year–old William Andrews fired several shots from a handgun at a 27–year–old man.

The incident occurred at the Veterans’ Memorial Ballpark in South Range early Sunday.

Deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department and officers from the Houghton Police arrested Andrews without incident about an hour after the shooting.

Andrews was arraigned this morning.

He’s in the Houghton County Jail on $1 million bond.

Andrews’ preliminary exam is set for September 3rd.

At last report, the victim was in stable condition at Marquette General, and he’s expected to make a full recovery.
