Sexual assault suspect to undergo forensics exam to determine competency

A Manistique man facing a number of criminal sexual conduct charges will now undergo a forensics exam to determine if he is competent for his case to move forward.

Daniel Corwin, 46, is facing six felony and one misdemeanor charges.  His charges include four counts of first degree CSC, one count of second degree CSC, one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes, and assault and battery.

On February 19, new charges were added from a separate case:  first and second degree CSC.

Corwin’s forensics exam has not been scheduled yet.

He was arrested in January after the Michigan State Police were investigating several sexual assault cases in Manistique.
