Sex offender facing jail time for failing to report address change

A Stephenson man faces two years of jail time for failing to notify law enforcement personnel of his address change.

Joshua Burde, 29, was arraigned Friday in Menominee County District Court on one count of failure to comply with reporting duties.

Troopers from the Gladstone Post of the Michigan State Police assisted officials from the Department of Human Services on a child welfare check Monday when they discovered Burde had moved.

Registered sex offenders are required to notify law enforcement of a change in address within three business days.  Failure to do so, is a felony punishable by up to four years in prison.

Burde will be back in court April 1 for a preliminary exam.
