Sex Abuse Charges Dismissed

A Kingsford man already in prison for sexual abuse won’t have to go back to court to face other, similar charges.

A month ago, 62-year-old William Doers was convicted of 5 counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Doers was scheduled to go back to court later this month for another CSC trial on charges involving the same victim.

The Dickinson County prosecutor’s office says the victim told them the emotional strain of testifying at another trial would be too much.

Also, if Doers were convicted again, he probably wouldn’t be sentenced to any extra prison time.

Whatever sentence he would get would be served concurrently with the 15 to 20 years he’s already doing.

The charges might be reinstated in the future if the prosecutor’s office wants to.
