Sex Abuse Case Forum for Marquette Parents

The Marquette schools and local police are trying to answer parents’ questions about the sex abuse case against a city teacher.

Several potential victims have come forward with abuse allegations against 49-year-old Kevin Wilson.

The alleged victim from 1996 that Wilson is facing charges for is the most recent.

Officials say she’s now in her mid-to-late-20s and lives in Ohio.

The other alleged victims are all in their 30s now.

In the mid-1990s, the state abolished the statute of limitations on 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The time limits on those other alleged incidents have all run out, so they can’t be prosecuted.

Marquette city police chief Mike Angeli says part of him wishes there were more victims.

He says he definitely doesn’t want anyone else to have been victimized, but he says every additional person who’s able to testify makes a conviction more and more likely.

There have been 2 seminars open to the public, one yesterday and one this afternoon.

They included group discussion, brief presentations and a question-and-answer session.
