Semi-truck hits two train overpasses

GLADSTONE — A large piece of logging equipment that was being pulled by a semi-truck hit a train overpass on northbound U.S. 2/41 between Escanaba and Gladstone Tuesday evening.

The driver of the truck did not realize that the logging equipment had collided with a train overpass and it continued into the city of Gladstone. As it continued on, the semi-truck struck another the overpass on M-35 near the U.S. 2/41 intersections.

The road was shut down for about an hour. The semi-truck eventually was able to lower its trailer, eventually giving it enough room to fit under the overpass. Neither of the overpasses sustained any structural damage.

The 56-year-old driver from Texas was cited and released from the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
