Semi collides with pickup truck

No injuries reported in a two-vehicle accident that involved a semi.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident in Republic Township involving a pickup truck and semi trailer at 5 o’clock Sunday evening.

According to authorities, a 40-year–old Republic man was driving his 2003 ford pickup truck west on river road, when he ignored a stop sign as he pulled onto M95.

As he entered the roadway, he drove into the path of an on-coming tractor-trailer heading north on M95, driven by a 64 year–old Ashland Wisconsin man.

As a result of the crash, the semi’s fuel tank was damaged and leaked diesel fuel into the road way. Trimedia Environmental and Engineering was called to clean up the spill.

The driver of the pick–up refused medical treatment and was ticketed for disregarding a stop sign. Republic Township Fire and First Responders also assisted at the scene.
