“Scrooge” in Negaunee

The start of the holiday season just wouldn’t be the same without one of the area’s traditional holiday classics.

A musical production of “Scrooge” makes its debut tonight at the Negaunee High School auditorium.

The musical being put on by the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council

is the same adaptation of Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” previously performed for years at NMU’s Forest Roberts Theatre.

But director Al Keefer says this time it’s with a twist — it’s a condensed musical of about an hour and 15 minutes instead of a full two hours.

The cast includes about 40 different actors from throughout the area.

The production runs through the weekend, with 7pm performances tonight, Friday and Saturday and a 2 pm matinee on Sunday.

Tickets are available at the Vista Theater gift shop, Johnson’s Drugs, Snowbound Books or at the door.
