Schoolcraft County Sheriff Recall Moves Forward
The recall effort against Schoolcraft County’s sheriff takes a step forward.
The County Election Commission says the recall paperwork against Sheriff Grant Harris is worded clearly enough for voters to understand.
Next up — collecting signatures.
The group of area residents trying to recall Harris cites 2 reasons.
They say he failed to mediate a budget in a timely manner and that he lied to the County Board about the undersheriff’s schedule.
Harris objects, saying among other things that the lying allegation is unclear.
He also says the recall papers claim he has the authority to mediate a budget when he actually doesn’t.
