School Immunizations

It may not feel like fall quite yet, but the school year is fast approaching.

And while you’re making sure your kids are prepared for back to school with new supplies and clothes, don’t forget the one thing that could keep them healthy throughout the year.

Each year, children should have their immunizations updated before the start of the new school year.

Dr. Terry Frankovich, medical director for the Marquette County Health Department, says it’s even more important this year due to recent increases in cases of childhood illnesses throughout the U.S.

There are often changes to the states requirements, so it’s important to know what immunizations your child needs to stay healthy.

And it’s not just infants and toddlers who are in need of vaccines.

Michigan has a state registry, so both your doctor and the health department can know what each child needs.

For more information about immunizations you can go online to the Michigan Department of Community Health’s website or the Centers for Disease Control’s website.
