School Flu Clinics Postponed Indefinitely

Two seasonal flu shot clinics in area schools are postponed.

It’s because there aren’t enough doses of the flu vaccine in the area yet.

The Negaunee schools were supposed to receive the vaccine at a clinic this Thursday.

The Ishpeming schools were also in line to get the flu shot this Friday at Phelps Middle School.

The Marquette County Health Department has postponed both clinics until more flu shots come in.

But looking at the swine flu, the Health Department says they’ve just gotten 600 doses of that vaccine.

They’re the first doses of H1N1 vaccine to reach the U.P.

This particular vaccine isn’t a shot; it’s a nasal spray.

But the Health Department says this round of doses will go to medical emergency workers who have direct contact with patients, kids from 2 to 4 years old, and people who live with or care for infants 6 months old and under.
