Sawyer shooting suspect still at large

The Forsyth Township Police Department is still seeking the public’s assistance in its investigation into reports of gunshots being fired into the air at K.I. Sawyer this weekend.

Police say the incident happened at about 10 p.m. Saturday on Invader Street. Officials found a sport utility vehicle with two broken-out windows parked at a nearby residence. Witnesses said that several people used wrenches to smash the SUV’s windows during a fight between two groups in the area. Police say that while that was happening, an unknown person fired a handgun into the air several times. Reports indicate that those shots were not fired at any cars or people.

Police are still looking for the suspect who could be charged with malicious destruction of property and illegal discharge of a firearm. Anyone with additional information regarding the incident is being asked to call the Forsyth Township Police at (906) 346–9224.
