Sawyer Community meeting Saturday

The “Sawyer Community Redevelopment Workshop” will be held Saturday at the K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum.  The workshop offers the opportunity to re-evaluate Sawyer’s community needs and to gain support in planning for the future of the area.

Speakers will include Dr. Laurel Berman, National Brownfield Coordinator for a public health agency, and Dr. Sabine Martin, who works with Kansas State University’s Technical Assistance to Brownfields program.

The Sawyer Community Alliance is asking for residents, business owners and property owners to work in small, moderated groups to create re-development priorities and goals for Sawyer.  Organizers hope to have a substantial number of Sawyer residents participate in the workshop.

The workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the K.I.Sawyer Heritage Air Museum at 402 Third Street (corner of Third and Avenue A.)  Attendees are asked to bring their own lunch.  Seating is limited, RSVP is encouraged: contact Dotty LaJoye at (906) 225-8197 or by emailing dlajoye@mqtco.org.
