Sault Ste. Marie man sentenced on drug charges

A Sault Ste. Marie man who was arrested on multiple felony drug charges was sentenced in Chippewa County Circuit Court Tuesday.

Sean Kirkland, 44, will spend 18 months on probation after pleading guilty to two charges: delivery of a controlled substance less than 50 grams and maintaining a drug house.

He was sentenced to 330 days in jail with credit for 47, but that will be held in abeyance, meaning if he violates his probation he will be sent to jail.  Kirkland is also sentenced to community service and pay restitution with his co-defendants.

One of his co-defendants, Fawn Teeple, 32, had a trial scheduled for next month, but instead her case was remanded back to district court.  Kevin Farnquist, 36, has a trial scheduled for August 13-15, and a fourth co-defendant, Jay Tanner, 45, had his charges dismissed.

The four defendants were arrested by the Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement team in January after a meth lab was found in a duplex on Andary Street in Sault Ste. Marie.
