Sault Ste. Marie man killed in rollover crash
Troopers from the Sault Ste. Marie Post of the Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal rollover crash that killed a man in Chippewa County.
Police say 30-year-old James Thompson of Sault Ste. Marie died Saturday following a one car rollover accident on Mackinac Trail near 12 Mile Road, in Dafter Township. Troopers say Thompson lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway, causing his car to hit several trees before rolling over.
Thompson was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. Authorities believe that speed was a factor in the accident, however it’s unclear if alcohol played a role in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
