Sault Ste. Marie couple faces multiple meth charges

Police in the Eastern Upper Peninsula have arrested a Sault Ste. Marie couple on a total of 23 meth charges.

The Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement Team (S.A.N.E) arrested Cody McCoy, 20, and Shelby Gauthier, 21, Wednesday morning.

McCoy faces 11 felony drug counts that range from Possession of Meth and Operating and Maintaining a Meth Lab to Conspiracy to Deliver Meth or Ecstasy.

Gauthier has 12 felony counts, including Manufacture, Distribution and Meth Possession charges.

An array of evidence was found, including meth components, equipment to manufacture meth, hazardous waste from the manufacture of the drug along with digital scales, marijuana and prescription drugs.

The two suspects are lodged in the Chippewa County Jail and have preliminary exams scheduled on April 4.

The investigation is continuning and further arrests are pending.
