Sam vs. El Grande Steak at The Palace Mexican Restaurant and Saloon

SAULT STE. MARIE — It was Round III of the Sam vs. Food challenge this past weekend as ABC 10’s Sam Ali took his talents to Michigan’s first city, Sault Ste. Marie, to take on the El Grande Steak at the Palace Mexican Restaurant and Saloon.

The restaurant has been around since the early 19–hundreds and specializes in Mexican and American cuisine.
They feature a famous chili con queso dip, as well as over 50 types of margaritas.

The El Grande steak is a 20 ounce New York strip steak topped with homemade salsa, grilled onion, tomato and jalapeno slices.

“I have an executive chef, Mike Mazzini, who created the steak and he’s been creating some new items on the menu. That was just something he wanted to offer, a large steak, for people. We do have three sizes of margaritas. We have a grande margarita so we thought why not the steak too,” Cook said.

The El Grande Steak will be available on the menu starting on June 1st.
