Sam Hoyt earns honor from WBCA

ATLANTA – Michigan Tech senior women’s basketball player Sam Hoyt earned Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention honors Monday (March 25). Hoyt was also an honorable mention selection as a junior.

“Once again, Sam has been recognized for her talent and leadership,” said head coach Kim Cameron. “She was a tremendous player and is an even better person and captain. She is extremely deserving of All-America status.”

The Arkansaw, Wis., native ranked fifth in the league in scoring at 16.6 points per game and second in free throw percentage (89.5-percent). Hoyt ranked second in assists (119), fourth in steals (57) and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6). Overall she ranked in the top-10 in nine different categories in the league. She ranks seventh in career scoring at
Michigan Tech with 1,434 points. She has a 3.94 cumulative grade point average in mathematics.
