Salvation Army Kettle Drive Begins

The holidays are just around the corner, and with the season comes that old familiar ring.

The Salvation Army’s red kettles will be out in full swing this weekend.

Each year, during the second week of November, volunteers begin manning the kettles outside storefronts throughout the area.

The proceeds from the kettles assists community members in need during the holidays but also throughout the year.

The money often helps with rental and utility assistance.

Last year, $83,000 was raised through the red kettles in Marquette County.

Ishpeming Salvation Army Capt. Joel Arthur says this year’s goal is $90,000, but bell ringers are needed at 13 different locations to get the job done.

If you’re interested in volunteering, you can contact the Salvation Army in Marquette at 226–2241 or in Ishpeming at 486–8121.
