Salvation Army kettle campaign

The Red Kettle campaign has come to an end, and Salvation Army officials in Marquette say there’s been an outpouring of help from the community.

Even though the campaign came up short of its $100,000 goal, it turned out to be quite a success.

Capt. Joel Arthur says the kettles brought in $96,000, a three-percent increase from last year.

Even though the Salvation Army is very pleased with that, Capt. Arthur hopes residents will continue to support the Salvation Army financially throughout the year because community need doesn’t go away once the holidays are done with.

The Red Kettle campaign helped 783 families in and around Marquette, which comes out to more than 3,000 individual people helped this holiday season.
