CRYSTAL FALLS — The trial for a Iron River woman who was arrested in connection with the death of a three month old infant continued today.
Brittany Lyn Russell of Iron River was back in Iron County Circuit Court on Wednesday for the third day of her trial.
On June 24th, 2014, a 3 month–old infant, Penny– Anne, was severely injured under the care of Russell. The infant died three days later. Iron County Prosecuting Attorney, Melissa Powell, charged Russell with Felony Murder on April 2nd, 2015.
On the 3rd day of trial, Tom Hadley who serves as an evidence technician for the Iron River City Police Department discussed photos that had been taken from within the residence. Later on the jury heard from Barb Howell with Krist security who showed Russell speaking with former Krist store manager Brenda Ross before the incident. She stated that Russell’s demeanor implied that she was extremely stressed. Ross said that in the conversation, Russell said she was watching too many kids.
Another former employee of Krist, Kristy Burton, testified to a statement that she says Russell had made to her before the injury.
Former Krist employee Kristy Burton said, “she said that the baby was annoying and sometimes she wished the baby would just die.”
Russell is defended by her attorney, Karl Numinen. Trial will resume on Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
