Royales raising money for youth hockey organizations

The Marquette Royales will play their final home series of the season beginning on Friday against the Tri–City Icehawks. When the Royales take the ice tomorrow night, they will be wearing a different jersey than their standard crimson and white unis.

The Royales have partnered with Hoover’s Auto Body and several hockey organizations to create a ‘NASCAR Weekend’ jersey. The gray jerseys that the Royales will wear are all being auctioned off. All of the money raised from the twenty five player jerseys will go to youth hockey organizations in the central upper peninsula.

“We’re in a position to be able to help these kids out,” said Royales head coach Mike Stanaway. “With all the support we have, we just wanted to return the favor. This community has embraced us, supports us. Anything we can do to help kids out, that’s our first priority.”

“It’s amazing to be around this organization, around all the organizations that are involved in this,” said Robert Airaudi, the owner of Hoover’s Auto Body. We hope to make Marquette and the Central U.P. a hockey mecca that it was before.”

To bid on a jersey, you can visit the Royales website at Jersey bidding ends on Saturday at midnight.
