UPDATE: Rollover accident sends woman to hospital with possible head contusion

July 1st at 1:52 p.m.

An elderly woman was taken to the hospital for a possible head contusion after her car reportedly rolled over the guard rail on U.S. 41 in Negaunee Township.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene shortly after 11:00 a.m. near the Carp River Bridge. Police say the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, 87-year-old Patricia Sager of Negaunee, was heading westbound on U.S. 41 when she lost control of her vehicle, drove into the median and rolled her 2003 Buick four-door over the guard rail. Sager was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Marquette General Hospital by Bell EMS for non-life threatening injuries. Further investigation by medical personnel revealed Sager was suffering from a medical condition which contributed to the loss of control and eventual crash.  Her current status is unknown.

Eastbound traffic on U.S. 41 was confined to one lane while the car was removed from the guard rail. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post were assisted on scene by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, Marquette County Rescue 131, and the Negaunee Township Fire Department.
