Rollover accident leaves Ontonagon woman injured

An 18-year-old Ontonagon woman is recovering from injuries she sustained during a rollover accident Thursday night.

The Ontonagon Sheriff’s Office says it happened just before 8:00 p.m. on US-45 near Aho-White Road. 33-year-old Charles Heikkinen of Rockland was traveling north on US-45 when he lost control of his 2003 Ford Ranger. The vehicle then left the roadway and overturned. Heikkinen was not injured in the accident, but 18-year-old Briana Pfeifer who was riding in the passenger’s seat was. Pfeifer was taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital by a Sonco ambulance for treatment. Her status is unknown.

The Ontonagon Village Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene for assistance.
