Robotics Club looking to raise money

The Marquette Senior High School Robotics Club competitions don’t start for another few months, but the club is already preparing for their upcoming season.

The club meets two days a week, and is looking for sponsors, members and donations.  They need to raise $12,000 in the next two months.  The $12,000 goes to building robots, supplies and travel expenses to competitions.  Each competition costs about $5,000.

On January 5th, the club finds out what type of robot they will be assigned to build.  They will then have six weeks to design, build and test the robot.  The robot must be ready in time for their first competition in March.

The club is more than just building robots.  Students write business plans, coordinate fundraising and grants.

For more information on how you can donate, become a sponsor or mentor or even become a member, you can contact Sally Davis at (906) 360-8965.  You can also visit the club’s Facebook page called Team Cold Logic.

Ishpeming High School, among others in the area, also have a robotics club.
