Red Wings double up Ducks; Stuart scores 2 in Detroit’s 4-2 win

The Detroit Red Wings finished up their 4 game west coast road trip with a 4-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks. With the win, Detroit went 2-2 on the road trip.

Henrik Zetterberg opened the scoring for the Wings just 1:26 into the first period, with a backhand shot that beat Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller blocker side. Johan Franzen scored in the 2nd period, off of a brilliant steal and pass from Pavel Datsyuk. Brad Stuart beat Hiller 5-hole to give Detroit a 3-0 lead.

Saku Koivu and Teemu Selanne scored in the second period for the Ducks, but that’s as close as they would get. Brad Stuart added an empty net goal in the last minute of play, bouncing the puck off of the boards from his own zone.

Jimmy Howard made 34 saves in net to get the win for the Red Wings. Detroit heads home for a Thanksgiving eve game against the Calgary Flames at Joe Louis Arena on Wednesday night.
