Record Number of Flu Shots

With the colder air starting to bear down on us, it’s the time of year when many of us are starting to think about the flu again.

For at least the last few years, public health officials recommended that anyone over 65 get the flu shot.

That’s along with health care workers, and kids from 6 months to 5 years of age.

This flu season, the Marquette County Health Department is recommending everyone who’s at least 6 months old get immunized.

They say it’s possible to do that because of a record number of flu shots being available this year.

Nearly 145 million doses of the vaccine will be sent around the country.

The vaccine is going to cost $25, and the pneumonia vaccine is $35.

Those prices are the same as last year, and it’s the same price for the flu vaccine from 2006 as well.
