Purse theft investigated in Marquette Co.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department is asking for help in finding two people who may have been eye witnesses to a crime this past week.

The pair may have seen the theft of a purse from the Wal-Mart in Marquette Township Wednesday, August 21.

Marquette County Sheriff Mike Lovelace says the purse contained a substantial amount of cash and was inadvertently left in a shopping cart in the Wal-Mart parking lot about 4:30 last Wednesday afternoon.

Police believe the man and woman seen in the video may have witnessed the crime.

A lighter color Chevrolet Impala missing a front left wheel cover parked next to the cart where the purse had been left.

That same Impala was seen at the Marquette Township Target store.

Surveillance video shows it stopping for a few seconds next to a shopping cart and then leaving the lot.

The purse was founding in the shopping cart in the parking lot by a Target employee – but the cash was missing.
