Pros instruct golfers at Celebrity Golf Clinic
MARQUETTE — With the annual U.P. Celebrity Golf Classic less than 24 hours away, many of the golfers participating in the 18–hole challenge tomorrow worked on their game today for a couple of hours.
The Jay Feely Celebrity Golf Clinic kicked off the two–day fundraiser for the Beacon House. Golfers worked in small group sessions and even received some one–on–one instruction from 10 PGA Teaching Pros from across the globe.
The pros held breakout sessions focusing on driving, chipping, putting, course management and more.
“It’s just an honor that they would spend their time and come here to help us and teach the game that they love,” said Feely.
“It’s really a special thing for the people of Marquette to be able to come out and learn from some of the best instructors in the world and get all messed up with all of the instruction that they’re going to give, but then go out there and have some fun on what I think is one of the best golf courses in the country,” he added.
Feely is co–hosting the event this year with Iron Mountain’s own Steve Mariucci. The golf classic is a very special thing for the former NFL and University of Michigan kicker to be involved with.
“To understand and know what the Beacon House does, how special it is and how they stand in the brink for people when they most need it, when they’re at their most needy– they are there to support them in any way possible is always an honor for me just to do anything that I can do,” said Feely.
After the clinic, golfers put those new tips and skills to the test, with a 9–hole Scramble on Greywalls.
