MARQUETTE — Halloween will soon be on its way, and volunteers are working hard to prepare for the 4th annual Halloween Spectacle in Marquette.

This year’s theme is “Moonlight Mayhem”

The event is family friendly, but offers more for those looking for a scare thrill. The dancers, contortionists, skaters, aerialists, costumes and everything else that make up the show are the result of a huge community–wide endeavor.

“This is a huge volunteer effort,” said Marquette DDA Promotions & Events Coordinator Tara Laase–McKinney, “we get dozens and dozens of volunteers from the participants who are actually in the show itself and creating props to all sorts of different people coming together, lending a hand and helping make this a very successful, really spooky event.”

The Halloween Spectacle takes place on Saturday, October 31st. It comes briefly after downtown trick or treating, which goes from 4-6 p.m.

The show goes from 7-8 p.m. at the Marquette Commons with processions beginning at 6:30. The event is sponsored by Upper Peninsula Health Plan and the Marquette Food Co–Op.
