Preparing for Firefighting Exam
Local firefighters are making sure they’re confident on how to safely put out a blaze.
For the past 6 months, firefighters-in-training have been preparing for the State of Michigan Fire Certification Exam.
The two-part exam is next week — June 4th and 5th.
It has a written test, as well as a practical exam with scenarios for search and rescue and forcible entry.
Every week since January, the students have worked with experienced firefighters.
Class coordinator Janelle Ruff says this creates a bond that helps in an emergency.
If students pass their exams, they become certified to serve as firefighters anywhere in Michigan.
