UPPCO officials have confirmed that the power was restored to customers in the Bark River area at approximately 10:45 a.m.

UPPCO officials say weather conditions have snapped a power line, leaving just under 300 customers in the Bark River area without electricity.

The outage began around 7:00 a.m. this morning. Crews are currently on site making repairs. UPPCO expects to have electrical service restored to customers by 11 a.m.

The power line that caused the outage is located near the mouth of the Ford and Bark Rivers, near M-35. The line broke at a junction area where two lines connect. The extreme cold likely caused the lines to constrict and snap. To reach the remote location, crews had to plow out a path through the snow.
