Possible meth lab found in Marquette

Police in Marquette found what appears to be another incident of meth components in a home.   Marquette Police were called to a report of an assault in progress at 2218 Presque Isle Avenue.  The call came in at 12:10 a.m. Monday.

According to police,  a 19–year–old woman was in medical distress and had not been assaulted. The woman’s 22–year–old boyfriend told police she had stopped breathing – and that he had to revive her.  She was taken to Marquette General Hospital for treatment.

While investigating the incident, officers found drug paraphernalia in the room, including suspected meth lab components.  The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team was called to assist at the scene.   After obtaining a search warrant, U.P.S.E.T searched the residence and found several meth lab components in the bedroom.

The 22–year–old man, identified as Gregory Retaskie Jr. of Marquette, was arrested on a warrant for a previous charge of  Operating and Maintaining a Laboratory involving Methamphetamine., a 20 year felony.

Retaskie was lodged in the Marquette County Jail.  He is also facing charges for the meth lab components found during this invitation.  The case has been sent to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Meth lab components have been discovered in an apartment in the city of Marquette. Police have arrested one man in connection with the incident.
