Possible Door-to-Door Scam in Manistique
Manistique Public Safety wants residents to know about a possible door–to–door sales scam.
At about 5 pm Thursday, two strangers were going door to door in the Lake Street area trying to sell some type of service from just energy company.
The salesmen also claimed to be affiliated with SEMCO Energy, which police say is false.
The solicitors were requesting personal information which should never be given out.
In Manistique, any door–to–door salespeople are required to obtain a permit from City Hall or from Public Safety.
No permits have been issued to any out–of–town salespeople this year, so Public Safety is asking for residents to report any solicitors immediately by dialing 911.
