Positive signs for Superior Design

Andy Ferns has owned a number of businesses throughout Marquette County for several years. However, he has never owned one that he built from the ground up. That was until he and wife decided to start Superior Design.

“It’s really fun trying to figure out where we are going to put things, whose going to do what and how we are going to market. It’s been a really exciting time for us,” Ferns said.

A key to running successful business is not just offering similar services as your competitors, but by doing it better, and offering more. All while putting your own unique spin on it. For Andy, that was one of the main ideas behind starting Superior Design.

“Really what I want to do,” added Ferns, “whenever we produce something for a client or for ourselves, I want to do it slightly different and slightly better than what everyone else is doing. I want to stay ahead of that curve.”

Superior Design offers a wide–range of services including signage, websites, printing and photos. And although this is their first year, Andy has big plans for his small company.

“I’d like to get into embroidery and more intricate sign installation with LED lights and things like that. We do basic installations right now, but in the future I’d like to obviously add more staff members and add to the superior design brand,” Ferns said.

At the end of the day Andy and his team know that whether it’s designing a logo, building a sign or helping a company re–brand their image, without satisfied customers they wouldn’t have a company. Andy says, one of the biggest thrills about his new business is seeing their work displayed on cars and building.
