Portage Health Light of Love Tree

Christmas Trees are a symbol of the holiday and at one Upper Michigan hospital, the lights on the tree represent much more. The annual Lights of Love tree lighting ceremony will be held Thursday at 10am in the Portage Health Hospital lobby.

Each light on the tree is in memory of someone who has passed or to honor someone still living. The names of all the people to whom the lights are dedicated to are read during the ceremony. The Hancock High School music ensemble will perform Christmas music at the event.

Lights are still available for $5 each by calling 483-1566 or by visiting the Gilded Rose Gift Shop inside the hospital. Proceeds from the lights help fund four $1000 scholarships for local students.

The event is presented by the Portage Hospital Auxiliary and is open to the public. A reception will be held in the Portage Health Conference Room following the ceremony.
