CALUMET — Police in the Copper Country are warning residents about a recent phone scam.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post say that citizens in the area have been receiving numerous phone calls from people claiming to be IRS agents. Police advise residents to ignore the calls and not give out any information to such callers.

Police say there is no need to contact law enforcement unless your identity has been compromised or you have lost money.
