Police seek help in hit and run investigation

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit and run accident that landed one woman in the hospital.

Officials say it happened just before 7:00 Monday night in Masonville Township when the driver of a Dodge Minivan heading eastbound on US-2 near Whitefish Hill slowed down for a vehicle parked on the side of the road.

A pickup truck traveling close behind failed to slow down and rear ended the van causing it to enter a nearby ditch. The driver of the pickup truck then fled the scene heading eastbound. The woman driving the van was treated and released at St. Francis Hospital.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public in locating the driver of the pickup truck. He is described as a white male, possibly in his 50’s. The suspects vehicle is believed to be a green Chevy, extended cab pickup with a loud exhaust and front end damage.
