Police respond to possible dead body, turns out to be driftwood
MARQUETTE — We’d like to preface this with: This is not news, we know. Welcome to the ABC 10 blog. Sometimes part of our job as a news organization is to extinguish public panic.
ABC 10 initially heard of police responding to reports of a dead body on Presque Isle near Black Rocks. A few Facebook rumblings about police presence near the island prompted ABC 10 to head out to the area to report back.
Police confirm tonight that the possible body floating near Black Rocks was actually a piece of drift wood. High fog and low visibility made this an easy mistake, but after investigation, the crime scene is closed.
