Police Officer hurt in Ishpeming car accident
An Ishpeming City Police Officer is in the hospital after a three car accident in Ishpeming.
The accident happened Tuesday night at the intersection of Second and Division Streets just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night.
An officer on patrol was stopped at the intersection of Second and Division Streets. An eastbound Ford Escape driving on Division Street turned in front of the officer’s car that was parked on Second Street.
The 70-year-old driver of the Escape, an Ishpeming woman, turned into the path of a westbound truck. The Escape was pushed into the patrol car.
The Ishpeming City Police Department says the officer was sent to Bell Hospital for minor injuries. The woman was ticketed for failure to yield to the right-of-way.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
