DELTA COUNTY — The Delta County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who was able to get away from police last night.

Around 8:00 p.m. Monday, a deputy from the sheriff’s office attempted to make a traffic stop on 18.3 Road in the Bay View Area. The suspect did not pull over and took off at a high rate of speed on South P Road.

The man then lost control of the car near Holly Lane when he crashed into a large pile of wooden and iron beams. The man then got out of the car and ran towards the Escanaba River.

As the deputy began pursuing the suspect on foot, he noticed that a female passenger in the car was injured. The officer came to the aid of the injured woman, ending the pursuit.

She was taken to OSF St. Francis for treatment of her injuries. Police were unable to locate the suspect.

The police report has been sent to the prosecutor’s office for review.
